About
Max Goodchild was born in 1952. He grew up on the south coast and now lives in London. He studied Fine Art in Liverpool and then Bristol, graduating in 1981. Max Goodchild says of these paintings:
'Their starting place is in mystery. The canvas or paper is like a space I enter. Layers are added and taken away until the painting gives up clues to its story.'
Naming a painting is part of the process. Titles such as 'FallingUp', 'Over' and 'Little Big' hint at a possible way into a painting.
Oil paintings are on canvas, unframed with a white edge and range in price from £1,500 to £3,500.The smaller acrylic and gouache paintings are on paper and are framed (see Contact page for image) and range in price from £175 to £300.
